Gabrielle Chariton celebrates her baby's 'firsts' - the ones that aren't recorded in a baby book.

The first time your baby looks up and gives you a smile - a real smile, not one of those little windy ones - is a heart-melting moment for any parent. Finally, you realise, there's more to babies than nappies and feeding. There's a little person in there and that little person is smiling at you! This smile is just one of the many things your baby will do for the first time as they grow up and start to make sense of the world around them. 

Most mothers keep baby books (generally in various states of incompleteness), which include spaces to document your baby's 'firsts': first smile, first tooth, first meal, first step, first word, and so on. However, these baby books generally don't include space to write in the other, less obvious firsts - the little things that happen each day as your baby's personality and emotions take shape.
