Thanks Rooney. That's such good thinking - the double nappy! Now why didn't I think of that?

I thoroughly recommend trying out cloth nappies. When most people think cloth nappies they think of the old terry or flanelette nappies that our mums / grandmothers used to use and while these are fine cloth has come a long way and there is a huge variety of nappies to choose from these days. You can find out just about everything that you could possibly want to know about cloth nappies here www.ozclothnappies.org.
Modern cloth nappies work really well, they will save you money and they ARE better for the environment (even when you factor in water usage, most people forget to think about how much water is used to manufacture a disposable).
If you have any questions about cloth I am happy to answer them, we have been using cloth on my DS since he was 6 months old, he's now 5 and still wets the bed so still in cloth at night.

I had the same problem and tried everything from Huggies nappies to Aldi home brand nappies and I always had an issue with how bad disposibles are for the environment - I found some great organic nappies at http://www.nicebrats.com.au - check it out, ecobub nappies worked best for my little girl.

If you are looking for a more environmental alternative in disposables the Bambo Nature Nappies are fabulous and they are as about as eco-friendly as you can get. Everything from how the raw materials are sourced to the manufacture of the nappies is eco friendly. They are really high performing nappies - better than Huggies and no chemicals. But remember no nappy is biodegradable in landfill you'd have to compost it at home.

Cloth nappies are a great alternative as you can adjust the absorbancy by adding boosters. Bamboo is the most absorbant fabric to use. Modern cloth nappies are easy to use and wash. You can get Bambo Nature Nappies and cloth nappies - as well as a great cloth Nappy Hire service so you can try before you buy and see what nappies suit you - from Down to Earth Baby Link: www.downtoearthbaby.com

good luck I hope you find something that works
Vic
