"There was an old bloke who swallowed a bunny… I don't know why he swallowed that bunny… crikey, that's funny!" goes the opening line from this Australian adaptation of 'There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly'. An imaginative story about a hungry farmer, accompanied by beautifully detailed illustrations, it will have adults and kids alike giggling.

Crumble and Shea have done a superb job of creating a story with plenty of talking points, from wondering how to get a duck's feet unstuck, to the appearance of the bloke dressed as Little Bo Peep. The dangling mouse, grinning llama, dancing pig and all the other animals are presented with vivid colours and actions.

The rhyming story is easy for most preschoolers to follow, and builds to a great finale where the farmer's tummy is stretched so tight there is a great big 'kapow!'
